Uzima means LIFE in Swahili

 

Uzima Initiative is a non-profit organisation registered and operating in Uganda. Uzima means LIFE in Swahili language and Uzima Initiative's main mission is to "end malaria deaths and poverty"mainly through prevention and treatment of malaria. Uzima is committed to minimize the impacts of malaria at social and economic levels in the country, to sustain high geographical coverage in the region, to educate communities about malaria; and to encourage communities to use of Insecticide Treated mosquito Nets (ITN).

Our mission is to end malaria deaths and poverty by serving under-privileged individuals and families in communities in Uganda and in the Great Lakes region (Africa). Drawing strength from our own experience and resources and Inspired by the aspirations of local communities, we pursue our mission with love and compassion because the people whom we serve deserve nothing less but life.

Our Vision

At Uzima Initiative, we work to see a world of hope and full of life, where malaria has been defeated and people live in peace and security without fear. Uzima Initiative will be a regional force and a partner of choice within a worldwide movement dedicated to end death and poverty caused by malaria. Uzima Initiative will be known for our unshakable commitment to the giving life through the fight against malaria.
